Italian daily life is governed by unwritten social contracts far stricter than actual laws. You can change your political party, but never your football team. You'll try exotic food, but pineapple on pizza is a betrayal. You can be late, but never show up empty-handed. Yet the fiercest dogma of all belongs to coffee: the absolute, non-negotiable ban on ordering a cappuccino after 11 AM.
For International Cappuccino Day, we positioned De'Longhi's Rivelia as the ultimate enabler of personal freedom. Rather than fighting Italy's favorite food taboo, we leaned straight into it, inviting coffee lovers to tear up the clock and rewrite their morning rituals entirely guilt-free.
Unleashed across social media, the campaign was built entirely on copy: bold, intimidating headlines that staged the rule in massive type, only to dismantle it in the fine print with an instant pardon. The result was a viral debate that turned an old-school taboo into a nationwide movement.
To ignite the conversation, we partnered with cultural tastemakers Paolo Stella, Alessia Colonna and Stefano Guerrera, along with the magazine theMuffa, who shared their own unapologetic, out-of-hours home rituals.
